SHOWS & NEWS

People frequently ask at Antibalas shows how they can manifest different messages in Fela's tunes and Antibalas songs. It is an ongoing struggle to be able to maintain one's dignity and ideals in a time where commodification undermines everything that was once sacred, and where "selling out" becomes a rite of passage. There are a variety of opinions within Antibalas, so it's not like we agree on everything, but here are a few good websites to check out and follow...

www.criticalresistance.org

Critical Resistance (CR) uses the term Prison Industrial Complex (PIC) to encompass both this phenomenon and the corresponding reality that capitalism flourishes from locking people in cages...." Other highly recommended Sites:

www.360degrees.org
This is an online documentary on the American criminal justice system, beautifully designed, full of very useful facts and information- but the best part are the stories: the site creators interviewed prisoners, guards, lawyers, and judges who tell about their lives and their perspectives on the system. while listening to the stories, you are shown a room- the office of the judge, the cell of the prisoner, and you can move throughout the room '360 degrees' with a special technology by moving your mouse.
