Victor Axelrod AKA Ticklah has been doin’ it and doin’ it and doin’ it well as a producer, musician, engineer, remixer, and band mate for so many years now that it’s starting to hurt. Hailing from a remarkably unmusical family this native New Yorker has become a force in a variety of means and genres leaving his prints on all kinds of underground hotness.Being a member of seminal afrobeat group Antibalas for the past decade has been time consuming but hasn’t stopped him from shangling shingles with the likes of The Dap Kings (Sharon Jones -How Long remix), Mark Ronson (Amy Winehouse/Back To Black, Nas /Fried Chicken, the Like), The Easy Star All Stars(co -produced Dub Side of the Moon as well as playing on much of the labels output), and DJ Spinna (Days Like This/Shaun Escoffery) just to name drop a few collaborators and projects which have resulted in successes at both the underground and mainstream level. Seriously, the discography is quite long and impressive. Like……really, really long.
All the while he has continually created his own original material which has yielded three full length albums, the most recent being the critically acclaimed humdinger “Ticklah vs. Axelrod”.
